Yeast Mannitol Broth is recommended for cultivation of Rhizobium species. Rhizobia are symbiotic nitrogen fixing organisms. Yeast extract serves as a good source of readily available amino acids, contain vitamin B complex and necessary growth factors for Rhizobia. Mannitol is the fermentable sugar alcohol source. Calcium and magnesium provide cations for their metabolism essential for the growth of Rhizobia.
